February has been quite the month- 2 more caravan birthdays, 4 newspaper articles, 1 radio interview and an appearance on This Morning which was cancelled at the last minute 😂
A lot of excitement, hype and sensationalism but we are now back on track and hard at work on our next volunteer project.
We’re currently hibernating in the caravan in the throws of ‘The Beast from the East’ and Storm Emma. Happy to say we are cosy and warm and aside from losing running water as a result of the campsite’s tap freezing and the pipe in the kitchen sink freezing-no other problems to report.
For the month of March we will be collecting sleeping bags, small tents, jeans and coats for the ‘One Love’ soup kitchen in Southend. These guys are an absolute inspiration and could really do with support. They rely solely on the generosity of the public whether it be donations or volunteering time to help serve meals. They serve warm meals every Monday and Thursday, have shower facilities and offer the use of a washing machine and tumble dryer. They have done an incredible job whilst Southend experienced some of the most severe weather on record and we look forward to doing what we can to support them.
Another project which we will be supporting is the Cancer Research ‘Walk all over Cancer’ campaign. This is something Aiden decided to take part in of his own accord and is a subject close to our hearts and I’m sure a lot of yours too. He will be walking/jogging or dancing a minimum of 10000 steps per day for the month of March. He is hoping to raise £200 (but it would be incredible if he could exceed this target)…should you wish to donate a pound or two please click on the link -all funds go directly to Cancer Research and Aiden will be posting regular updates on his progress.
Well that just about covers everything…we are slowly but surely reaching our targets and if all goes to plan we hope to purchase our new tow vehicle in the next two months which will enable us to head off on weekend volunteer projects around the UK. Please do get in touch if you know of any projects that we could possibly get involved in and if you haven’t already, please follow us on Instagram and Facebook
Sometimes the people around you won’t understand your journey. They don’t need to, it’s not for them.
